Before changing your workflow: The integration method matters more than the label on the box.

PUT IT TO WORK / ORIGINAL WORKSHEET

Give every handoff one owner

Calendar imports do not establish rate, message or payment synchronization. Keep real reservation details in your private system.

Map the work before comparing products

List the platforms you use and the person responsible for every update. Then separate inventory distribution, guest communication, payments and property preparation. Not every team needs all four in one product.

Do not treat calendar links as equivalent connections

Ask whether a connection supports only availability or also rates, reservations and messages. Check each channel individually. We do not assert sync speed or reliability from a vendor category name; those require documentation and a controlled trial.

Before migrating, determine what happens to existing reservations, fees and message schedules. Keep a way to inspect the underlying channel’s records while the new workflow is checked. Avoid making two systems independently responsible for the same automatic reply.

Choose the smallest coherent system

A one-channel host may need better templates rather than distribution software. A two-channel host may need documented availability coordination first. A host building direct bookings must consider payments, terms, guest acquisition and support beyond the website.

Compare products on the same property count, billing period and necessary features. The profile pages identify public-documentation evidence and unknowns; they are not reliability certifications.

  • Write a must-have task list.
  • Check channels individually.
  • Assign one owner to each automation.
  • Test rollback and export paths.
  • Compare the full bill, not only the entry plan.

Trace a changed reservation through the system

Identify the reservation source, the system receiving changed dates, the calendar that blocks availability, the message scheduler and the cleaner assignment. Draw those handoffs before migration. If two systems own the same task, stop and choose one.

An imported calendar is not proof of rate, payment or message synchronization. Airbnb documents its own import/export behavior; a vendor connection has a separate scope. Inspect a changed reservation rather than treating “fully integrated” as a test result.

Direct bookings are another operating decision

A direct website adds a channel you operate. You need an availability source, payment/refund process, guest terms and someone handling support. Compare how a direct reservation reaches cleaning and messaging, not only how the site looks.

A channel manager may cover distribution while a PMS adds reporting or other tasks. Neither label establishes what a tier includes. The comparison links capabilities to plan evidence and leaves reliability untested.

Test a small portfolio on the channels you use

Start with your current setup. If you use one channel, review its native calendar and inbox first. For multiple channels, write down which system owns availability before changing any connections.

Guesty Lite

Guesty presents Lite for hosts with one to three listings.

Confirm the channels and plan limits in writing. In a test environment, make a date change and check where it appears before moving your live calendar.
