Before changing your workflow: Brand-level compatibility is not model-level evidence.

Three checks before buying a lock

This is a purchasing and operations checklist. It does not certify a device, installation, security level or compatibility.

Use a compatibility worksheet, not a guessed recommendation

We do not offer model recommendations, a live finder or retailer affiliate links. The following is a purchase-verification matrix, not a product compatibility claim. Record the exact model number and dated official evidence for each row.

Verify the integration you actually intend to use

Airbnb documents eligibility for its own connection. A PMS connection is a different path and can have different plan, device and service requirements. Do not assume that a lock listed by a manufacturer automatically supports your chosen channel or PMS configuration.

Check current official instructions immediately before purchase and again before enabling automated guest access. We have not physically installed locks or tested connectivity, code expiry, failure recovery or vendor support.

Plan for the ordinary failures

A disconnected device, low battery, a changed reservation or a guest without working mobile data should not leave the property without an entry plan. Document a local escalation route without publishing access codes in a shared guide.

During a controlled trial, check a new booking, changed dates, a cancellation and the backup procedure. Use test data you are authorized to use. Store sensitive access information in an appropriate system, never in a public scenario link.

Separate three compatibility questions

Will the hardware fit the door and work with available connectivity? Does the chosen service support the exact model in the property’s region? Does your plan enable the intended code workflow? A yes to one does not answer the others.

We do not offer a model finder because a complete current model matrix has not been verified. Use official eligibility and manufacturer instructions. A supported brand name does not establish compatibility for every device bearing it.

For example, Schlage publishes model identifiers for supported Encode devices. August states that its Airbnb integration requires a compatible keypad and applies in the US and Canada. These references explain why brand alone is not enough; they are not a complete purchase recommendation.

Policy / product reference: Airbnb smart-lock eligibility · Schlage: locks compatible with Airbnb · August: Airbnb integration requirements. Numeric examples and worksheets are HostMetrio illustrations.

Document failed-entry handling before arrival

Decide who can respond locally, how to verify the guest and where the authorized fallback is stored. Never put a real code in this worksheet or a shared financial link. Test interruptions under controlled conditions with an authorized person present.

Access also needs a handoff after cleaning and maintenance. A changed battery, misaligned latch or unreviewed rule can invalidate an installation check. Record ongoing verification in your private operating system. These planning checks are not a physical security inspection.

A task to check before you buy

A noise alert solves a separate job

Start with your current setup. If the issue is a missing arrival instruction or lockout, fix that process first. Keep a named escalation contact for actual disturbances.

Minut

Minut documents threshold-based noise monitoring. This is a separate decision from guest access or lock compatibility.

Check the placement, alert workflow, hardware and subscription quote, and applicable platform and local requirements before installing a device.

Sources & evidence limits

Substantive editorial revision and primary-source review. Original examples use the tested financial model; vendor-account, device and independent expert testing have not been performed. Reconfirm fee, plan and compatibility details before acting.

Original hypothetical examples are educational scenarios. HostMetrio does not provide individual financial, tax, legal or safety advice.
